Family home, District II, Budapest

Project and location
Family home, District II, Budapest

The site is a north-facing front garden of a century-old villa that was completely redesigned by one of the country's top architects in 2005. She wanted the garden to have a stronger overarching concept and more year-round interest. Target areas included the driveway, which has been turned into a pedestrian entrance with a vine-covered pergola, and the area in front of the house's main entrance.

What we did
We created densely-grouped, naturalistic plantings of plants with strong forms and textures that provide color and interest for most of the year. The borders are curved and organic, as a counterpoint to the house’s striking contours. Since the area directly in front of the house is the most visually-prominent part of the garden, this area also features more plants with strong, architectural shapes and year-round interest.
